Research is like lego, it seems

December 11, 2012

I have to say I’m loving this lego infographic about infographics.

I love it all the more because I think it represents what I do really well – so it is not just about infographics, it is about research.
  • I use research techniques (i.e. focus groups, surveys) to collect data.  It comes out in a great big intimidating mixed up blob.
  • I look at the data and think about categories that it could reasonably be sorted into
  • I arrange the categories so they make some sort of sense
  • I present this information in a way that is easiest to understand

Of course what this doesn’t show is the skill that goes into collecting the data to make sure you don’t get any lego trees or bits of duplo in there…  But that’s another story!
